Teen/Youth Gambling

Most problem gambling has its origins in adolescence. Gambling opportunities are readily available for school-aged youth across all cultures. Gambling Information & Counseling will provide prevention services to school aged youth and their parents. These services for individuals and/or groups are designed to educate youth regarding compulsive gambling, probability, financial and social consequences of problem gambling. This educational base, coupled with social/refusal skill-building techniques provides youth with a basis for sound decision making and long-term wellness.

•	Carries or possesses gambling materials (tickets, cards, dice, betting sheets)
•	Believes that gambling is a way to make money
•	Borrows money frequently from friends, family
•	Misuses lunch money, steals from family
•	Lies about gambling
•	Displays large amounts of cash or new material goods
•	Frequent mood swings when winning/losing
•	Skips classes or neglects homework
•	Excessive time spent on-line (check the computer history for gambling links)
•	Continues to gamble despite the pain it has brought to self or others
