Social Anxiety
Social Anxiety is more than just shyness. If an individual’s
anxiety about social situations is so severe that it disrupts
one’s daily life and relationships to the point where one
is sick with worry, social anxiety may exist. Social Anxiety Disorder
is an excessive, persistent fear of social or performance situations.
The basic symptom is of being very anxious in the presence of
others. Individuals who suffer from social anxiety disorder may
think that other people are very confident in public and they
are not. Just blushing may feel horribly embarrassing to them,
and make them feel like everyone’s eyes are always on them.
They may feel anxious about giving a speech, talking to their
boss or going on a date.
