Oneida
County Honored by
NYS Industries for the Disabled (NYSID)
Oneida County Executive Anthony J. Picente, Jr. today announced
that New York State Industries for the Disabled (NYSID) has honored
Oneida County as its “2007 Local Government Agency Customer
of the Year.”
“ Oneida County government’s support of NYSID’s
services and products makes good fiscal sense for agencies serving
county residents,” Picente said. “By procuring services
and products from vendors that employ workers with disabilities,
we are not only upholding our high standards for products and services,
we are contributing to the lives of workers with disabilities who
are able to retain employment.”
NYSID has called Oneida County government “a leader in providing
effective, efficient services to meet the needs of its community
while also creating a growth-oriented business climate. On the leading
edge of growth and innovation during our state’s formative
years, Oneida County is still a leader in today’s information
age -- a county where value of quality workmanship, pride in community
heritage, and a commitment to making government work on behalf of
the people endures and flourishes.”
In a little over one year’s time, the county has steadily
increased its usage of NYSID agencies’ products and services
in several departments including the Departments of Central Services,
Mental Health, Buildings & Grounds, Airport, Records Management,
and Social Services. This escalating support has grown by more than
200% within 18 months -- an amazing increase in employment of people
with disabilities at NYSID member agencies, including Utica-based
Human Technologies Corp.
“Working with NYSID benefits both county residents by securing
high quality services at extremely reasonable costs and by providing
employment opportunities for workers with disabilities,” Picente
said.
HTC
Awarded Grant from First Source Federal Credit Union

Human Technologies Corporation a private 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit
company employing people with disabilities is pleased to announce
that it has received a grant for $5,000 from First Source Federal
Credit Union for the purpose of assisting with the purchase of new
equipment for its Graphtex Operations.
This grant helps to offset the costs of new embroidery equipment
and will enable HTC to expand the operational capability and capacity
to service all accounts and particularly the US Forest Service,
where HTC will produce apparel for 20,000 Forest Service workers
nationwide. The acquisition of this equipment will also dramatically
improve operating efficiencies throughout the entire Graphtex Division
of HTC.
It is a top priority for HTC to fulfill its mission by providing
opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in
full community life and to be engaged in meaningful and productive
work. The acquisition of this equipment contributes to the creation

Contract
Awarded To HTC from US Department of Agriculture
Human Technologies Corporation, a private 501 (c)
(3) not-for-profit company employing people with disabilities, has
been awarded a multi-year contract from the US Department of Agriculture
US Forest Service to manage the Uniform Allowance program for approximately
20,000 Forest Service workers nationwide. This contract administered
under the Javits-Wagner-O’Day (JWOD) program is the first
of its kind and will serve to create and enhance up to 16 jobs locally
for people with severe disabilities and another 225 nationwide through
HTC’s not-for-profit supplier network.
This contract will fully utilize HTC’s current textile manufacturing,
embroidery and packaging capabilities and results in new warehousing
distribution and
E-commerce fulfillment functions. HTC is expanding into the 3rd
party logistics field and will be able to offer federal, state and
commercial customers complete supply chain solutions.
In addition to manufacturing some of the clothing items here in
the Mohawk Valley and contracting with other not-for-profits throughout
the country, HTC will completely manage the spending allowances
for each Forest Service employee. The management of theses allowances
required significant technological infrastructure to be created
and enhanced and HTC has partnered with Xonitek Systems from Binghamton,
New York to assist with building the backbone for the allowances
as well as a state of the art E-commerce store to be used by each
Forest Service employee.
Rick Sebastian, President/CEO of Human Technologies Corporation
says “this contract represents a turning point not only for
HTC and our capabilities, but more importantly for people with severe
disabilities. We will be creating here and throughout the entire
country jobs that add meaning and value to a person’s life
and jobs that are and will be in demand in other types of industry.
As we grow in our ability to bring solutions to customer’s
supply chain needs, we create even more opportunities for people
with disabilities to be a go to and highly trained workforce. We
accomplish three major principles of our business, exceed customer’s
expectations, create job opportunities for people with disabilities
and engage in social innovation.”
HTC is committed to enhancing the quality of life
for people with disabilities and others who have barriers to employment
and employs approximately 330 people throughout the Mohawk Valley.
HTC serves more than 30,000 customers locally, regionally and throughout
the country in its apparel, textile manufacturing, specialty printing,
janitorial, and behavioral health services lines of business.
