Information for Supervisors

Making EAPsupervisor referrals:

How a referral is made to PERFORMA is dependent mainly upon an employee’s work performance. Since a referral can never be mandatory or a condition for continued employment, a supervisor should use care in wording in the manner of referral.

Two important conditions for referral should be considered:

The impact the behavior has on the employee’s work performance (and that of the organization)
The well-being of the employee and the workplace

It is the employer’s (and therefore the supervisor’s) responsibility to ensure a safe and productive work environment for all.

If you work at a PERFORMA contract company and need a supervisory consultation, call PERFORMA before you meet with the employee. We’re here to help.

Employer expectations

Employers expect employees to come to work Ready, Willing, Able and Fit to do a good job.

Supervisors have a responsibility to insure that these expectations are met.

An EAP referral allows supervisors to remain in their professional role - motivating employees to seek help and monitoring job performance.
