"I am working in a place that is very close to home, where the hours are convenient with my family schedule. I didn’t have daycare and the program helped me find a person suitable to take care of my youngest child.

To be honest, this program is like a family. They are there in good and in bad times. My case worker, Frances, makes sure that you feel at ease in the job that you are doing, which is a good thing.

Best of all, I work Monday through Friday, no weekends! This gives me time to spend with my kids, which are as important to me as my job.
Where I am, I have great co-workers, peers and a great boss. (That’s hard to find) Plus I am learning to cook American food, which is ironic, me being Hispanic."

Jason (Lowes)
Jason came to HTC for employment services in the Spring of 2000 as a participant in our School to Work transition program. In this program, Jason learned job-readiness skills such as resume writing, filling out applications properly, interview etiquette and employer expectations.

After successfully completing this program, Jason went out into the job market on his own. After having some difficulty in retaining employment, he returned to Pinnacle in April 2002 for job placement services. By May Pinnacle had facilitated Jason’s hiring at Lowes Home Improvement, where he works in the Lawn and Garden Department.

Jason was originally hired at Lowes in a seasonal position, but according to his supervisors, he will probably be kept on as a permanent employee. "He is enthusiastic about his job and has good attendance, what more could you ask for?" his supervisor stated. As for Jason, he attributed his success to the Pinnacle staff, "they were very helpful (in finding me a job) and friendly!"
