Cleaning
tip

(nail
polish, coffee, ketchup)
Follow the tips listed below until the stain has lifted, or until
it no longer transfers to the cloth:
1. Using a clean, white absorbent cloth, apply a small amount
of dry cleaning solution or alcohol (available to any grocery
store). Use small amounts to prevent damage to the material or
backing of the carpet.
2. Mix one half teaspoon of a white neutral detergent (a mild
dishwashing detergent containing no bleaches for example), with
one cup of lukewarm water.
3. Mix one third of a cup of household vinegar with two thirds
of a cup of lukewarm water.
4. Mix a solution of powdered enzyme laundry detergent according
to label instructions. Allow the solution to remain on the stain
for the length of time recommended by the manufacturer.
Finally, blot any remaining solutions or chemicals with a white
absorbent towel. Weigh it down, and allow six hours to dry.

1. Before
hanging shower curtains, soak in a salt-water solution to prevent
mildew.
2. To remove mildew, soak in hot, soapy water; tub with lemon
juice, and let dry in the sun.
3. For plastic curtains, clean with laundry pre-wash spray. Spray
at the top so that it runs down the whole curtain. Let sit for
five minutes, then rinse.

1. Use a
paintbrush to dust in hard to places in telephones, computes,
etc.
2. To remove smoke odors, place a bowl of vinegar in the room,
and allow to sit for five to seven days.
3. Gum can be removed by using ice to harden it, and a dull knife
to scrape away.
