NEW YORK STATE ARMORY
From grounds maintenance to janitorial services, the New York State Armory locations in Utica and Rome each have specific needs. The upstate New York winters can drop multiple feet of snow in 24 hours. Wet summers can cause grass and weeds to grow at what seem like record speeds. Property Management Group makes sure that both the insides and the outsides of the Armory buildings are spotless.
“We do a good job at accommodating their needs at a moment’s notice,” said Scott Hughes, general manager for Property Management Group. PMG staff will adjust work hours to remove snow after a heavy snowfall and make sure sidewalks are shoveled and salted. And when the buildings host a special event, like Family Weekends, “we’ll put a little extra maintenance in,” Hughes said. “They don’t have to ask, we’re always there offering.” Maintenance Plus, a division of PMG, has also helped with some minor building repair.
Both Armory locations are extensively secured, and PMG has very specific time frames when they can work in the buildings. “Our supervisor has the responsibility to make sure things are done right,” Hughes said. “It’s all about the Armories’ needs — and our ability to be flexible to meet their needs and cost objectives.”
